      Riff-raff comes from an old French phrase meaning one and all, and over time it came to describe people of low standing. Fans of The Rocky Horror Show will also know Riff Raff as the hunchbacked handyman in Richard O'Brien's 1973 musical. Hang the sign over a home bar, a study, a VIP corner at a party or the bedroom of a teenager who vets every visitor. It makes a fun present for a snooty friend with a sense of humour, a theatre fan, or anyone who likes to pretend their spare room is a private club.
