    Osaka is famous for kuidaore, which means to eat until you drop, and dishes such as takoyaki and okonomiyaki are local specialities. Along the Dotonbori canal, giant signs, including the Glico Running Man, light up the night. Osaka Castle, rebuilt in the 20th century, stands among moats and gardens. The city has long been a trading centre, and its Shinsekai district has the retro Tsutenkaku Tower. Universal Studios Japan is here, and in 2025 Osaka hosted the World Expo on the man-made island of Yumeshima.
