    The Pyramids of Giza stand on a desert plateau at the edge of Greater Cairo. The largest, the Great Pyramid of Khufu, was built around 4,500 years ago and is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one still standing. It was the tallest structure made by humans for thousands of years. Nearby are the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, along with the Great Sphinx, a lion-bodied figure with a human head. Camel rides and evening light shows are popular with visitors.
