    San Antonio is one of the oldest cities in Texas and grew around a Spanish mission founded in 1718. That mission, the Alamo, became famous for the 1836 battle during the Texas Revolution. The Alamo and four other Spanish colonial missions were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. The River Walk winds below street level past restaurants and hotels, and the city's Fiesta celebration fills April with parades. The San Antonio Spurs have won five NBA championships. Tex-Mex food is a point of local pride, and puffy tacos are a San Antonio speciality.
