Route 66 heritage and Art Deco style inspire this Tulsa distance street sign. It makes a great gift for Oklahomans and anyone who loves the open road.
Tulsa, in northeastern Oklahoma, boomed in the early 20th century after oil was discovered nearby, earning the title Oil Capital of the World. That wealth paid for a remarkable collection of Art Deco buildings downtown. Cyrus Avery, a Tulsa businessman, is known as the Father of Route 66, and the highway still runs through the city. The thriving Black neighbourhood once known as Black Wall Street is remembered at a history centre that tells the story of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The Gathering Place riverside park and the Bob Dylan Center are newer highlights.
