    Black-and-white Tudor streets wrapped in a river loop feature in this Shrewsbury map art print. The Shropshire county town is mapped as clean graphic artwork, a warm reminder of home for anyone who grew up there.

    Shrewsbury sits almost entirely within a tight loop of the River Severn, which made it an easy town to defend, and its red sandstone castle guards the narrow neck of land. Charles Darwin was born here in 1809 and went to Shrewsbury School, and a statue of him stands outside the old school building, now the library. The medieval centre is full of half-timbered houses and narrow passages known locally as shuts. Shrewsbury Abbey is the setting for Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael novels, and the riverside park known as the Quarry hosts the Shrewsbury Flower Show each August.
