    Jazz, gumbo and bayous: this Welcome to Louisiana sign is a nod to all of them. It reads "Welcome to Louisiana" and "The Pelican State" in white lettering on a green panel styled after a highway sign, with a slender white keyline, and the wording is fixed as pictured.

    The brown pelican is the state bird and appears on both the Louisiana flag and the state seal. Baton Rouge is the capital, but New Orleans steals the spotlight with Mardi Gras, the French Quarter and its claim as the birthplace of jazz. Louisiana is also the only state divided into parishes rather than counties, a legacy of its French and Spanish colonial past.

    Hang it in a kitchen, a courtyard room or a party space. The metal sign is waterproof. Choose Clean for a bright finish, or Rusted for a printed, humid-weathered look. It is a decorative design, not an official state sign.
