    Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and the second-largest city in Spain. Its Eixample district, planned by Ildefons Cerdà in the 19th century, is famous for its grid of octagonal blocks. Antoni Gaudí left his mark across the city, from the unfinished Sagrada Família to Park Güell and Casa Batlló. Las Ramblas runs down through the old town to the sea, past the Boqueria market. The city hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics, which transformed its waterfront, and FC Barcelona is one of the most famous football clubs in the world.
