Celebrate the giant of the Pyrenees with this Col du Tourmalet D918 Route Sign, a nod to one of the Tour de France's oldest mountain passes.
At 2,115m, the Tourmalet is the highest paved pass in the French Pyrenees, linking Luz-Saint-Sauveur with Sainte-Marie-de-Campan by way of the ski station at La Mongie. It first appeared in the Tour in 1910 and has been crossed more often than almost any other climb. In 1913 Eugène Christophe broke his fork on the descent and famously repaired it himself at a village forge. A statue of a straining rider, the Géant du Tourmalet, marks the summit each summer.
It comes in a Clean style or a Rusted style with a rust-effect finish. Choose from A6 at 10.5 × 14.8cm up to A3 at 42 × 30.5cm, with A5 (21 × 14.8cm) and A4 (28.3 × 19.7cm) in between. Hang it in a bike room, beside a turbo trainer or above a workbench as a metal sign; it is a decorative piece, not a salvaged road sign.
Riders who like this often choose the Col d'Aubisque D918 Route Sign, Luz Ardiden D12 Route Sign or Alpe d'Huez D211 Route Sign; there are more among our sports signs.
