Britain's most famous address inspires this Downing Street sign, a great gift for politics students, history fans and keen followers of Westminster.
Downing Street was built in the 1680s by Sir George Downing, a soldier and diplomat. Number 10 has been the home and office of the Prime Minister since Robert Walpole accepted it in 1735, and Number 11 belongs to the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The famous black front door of Number 10 has no keyhole on the outside, so it is always opened from within. Larry the cat has held the title of Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office since 2011, and security gates have guarded the street since 1989.
The metal plate can be ordered Clean or Rusted. For a shelf, A6 (10.5 × 14.8cm) or A5 (21 × 14.8cm) works well; for a wall, try A4 (28.3 × 19.7cm) or A3 (42 × 30.5cm). Try it above a desk, beside a bookcase or in a downstairs loo.
