    In North America, ski trails are graded by shape and colour: a green circle for beginners, a blue square for intermediates and a black diamond for advanced skiers. Two black diamonds signal the most demanding terrain, often with steep chutes, moguls or cliffs. Resorts in Europe use a different system, ranking runs from green or blue up to red and black.
