    The only great city spread across two continents is the subject of this Istanbul map art print. Its streets on both sides of the Bosphorus are drawn as rich graphic art, a fine gift for lovers of Turkey and history.

    Istanbul straddles the Bosphorus strait, with part of the city in Europe and part in Asia. As Constantinople, it was the capital of the Byzantine and then the Ottoman empires. Hagia Sophia, completed in 537, was the largest cathedral in the world for nearly a thousand years. The Blue Mosque faces it across Sultanahmet Square, and Topkapı Palace was the home of the Ottoman sultans for centuries. The Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, and the historic areas are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
