    Boston is the capital of Massachusetts and one of the oldest cities in the United States. The red-brick line of the Freedom Trail links sixteen historic sites, including the Old North Church and Paul Revere's house. In 1773, colonists protesting a tax threw chests of tea into the harbour in the Boston Tea Party. Fenway Park, opened in 1912, is the oldest Major League ballpark and famous for its Green Monster wall. The Boston Marathon has been run since 1897, and Harvard and MIT lie across the Charles River in Cambridge.
