    Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and the heart of country music. The Grand Ole Opry, a radio show running since 1925, still broadcasts from the city, and the Ryman Auditorium downtown is nicknamed the Mother Church of Country Music. Lower Broadway is lined with honky-tonks where live bands play from late morning until the early hours. The Country Music Hall of Fame preserves the genre's history, while a full-scale replica of the Parthenon stands in Centennial Park, a nod to the city's old Athens of the South label.
