Bright lights and the buzz of the West End inspire this Piccadilly Circus sign. It is a lively gift for Londoners, theatre fans and visitors who have met friends beneath Eros.
Piccadilly Circus was built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with Piccadilly, and its name comes from piccadills, the stiff lace collars sold by a 17th-century tailor whose house stood nearby. Illuminated advertisements have lit up the junction since the early 1900s, and today a giant curved screen dominates one corner. The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, unveiled in 1893, is topped by a winged figure usually called Eros. The circus links theatreland, Soho and Leicester Square, and it is one of London's most famous meeting points.
There are four formats, from a compact A6 of 10.5 × 14.8cm to a bold A3 of 42 × 30.5cm; A5 is 21 × 14.8cm and A4 is 28.3 × 19.7cm. Finish options are Clean and Rusted. A spare room, a study or a teenager's bedroom would all be good homes for it.
Others worth a look are the Leicester Square, Carnaby and Trafalgar Square signs; the full range is in UK location signs.
