    A Roman town frozen in time inspires this Pompeii map art print, which shows the site and its surroundings in the Bay of Naples as a graphic map. It is a thoughtful present for classicists, history teachers and anyone who has walked its stone streets.

    In AD 79 Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried Pompeii under metres of ash and pumice, preserving houses, shops, bakeries and frescoes almost exactly as they were. The eruption was described by Pliny the Younger, who watched from across the bay. Formal excavations began in 1748, and archaeologists later poured plaster into the hollows left by victims, producing the haunting casts seen today. Pompeii shares a UNESCO World Heritage listing with nearby Herculaneum, and Vesuvius, still active, looms over the ruins.

    Every size from A5 through A4, A3 and A2 to A1 is available, as are 18 colour schemes (Neon, Terracotta, Forest and more). It is a decorative map, not one for getting from A to B.
