    The capital of the Land of the Thunder Dragon, high in a Himalayan valley, is the subject of this Thimphu map art print. Drawn as calm graphic art, it is a special keepsake from a journey to Bhutan.

    Thimphu lies in the valley of the Wang Chu river at around 2,300 metres and has been the capital of Bhutan since the 1960s. It is famously one of the few capital cities in the world without traffic lights; instead, police officers direct traffic at the main junction. Tashichho Dzong, a great fortress-monastery, houses the government and the central monastic body. A giant gilded statue, the Buddha Dordenma, looks down on the city from a hillside, and the weekend market draws farmers from across the valley.
