Neon nights and desert silence both fit under this Welcome to Nevada sign, which reads "Welcome to Nevada" and "The Silver State" in white lettering on a green panel with a fine white border. It is a fixed design, worded exactly as shown.
The nickname dates from the Comstock Lode, a huge silver discovery made near Virginia City in 1859; statehood followed in 1864, in the middle of the Civil War. Carson City is the capital, not Las Vegas or Reno. Beyond the Strip there is Lake Tahoe on the California line, the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River and the bristlecone pines of Great Basin National Park. A fun choice for a stag or hen weekend memento, a desert road-tripper or a poker night host.
Hang it in a games room, a home bar or a garage. Clean looks bright and crisp; Rusted prints a sun-bleached weathered effect. The sign is decorative, not an official state sign or a salvaged one.
