      Organised cheerleading is usually traced to 1898, when Johnny Campbell, a student at the University of Minnesota, led a crowd in chants at a football game. Early cheerleaders were mostly men, and the sport has since grown into a demanding mix of tumbling, stunts, jumps and dance. Competitive cheer now has world championships, and the International Olympic Committee gave full recognition to the International Cheer Union in 2021. Squads train for months to perfect routines that last just a few minutes. Squads range from school and university teams to all-star clubs, and many welcome newcomers of every age.

      Twelve colours give plenty of choice: black, blue, brown, green, orange, pink, purple, red, yellow, grey, light green and light blue. Lengths available: 20 × 10cm, 28.3 × 10cm, 40.5 × 14.1cm or 45.7 × 15.2cm. The product page asks for the wording to print, such as a club, a player or a catchphrase.
