    Baltimore is the largest city in Maryland. During the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key watched the bombardment of Fort McHenry and wrote the words of The Star-Spangled Banner. The redeveloped Inner Harbor is home to the National Aquarium and historic ships. Edgar Allan Poe is buried in the city, and the Baltimore Ravens take their name from his best known poem. Johns Hopkins University and Hospital are among the most famous institutions here. Its neighbourhoods are famous for rows of brick houses with white marble front steps.
