    ABOUT THIS GIFT.

Mountains rise behind the broad avenues of this Bishkek map art print. The capital of Kyrgyzstan is mapped as minimalist graphic art, a fine memento of the Silk Road and Central Asian travels.

Bishkek lies in the Chüy Valley at the foot of the snow-capped Kyrgyz Ala-Too range, part of the Tian Shan. During the Soviet era it was named Frunze, and it took back the name Bishkek in 1991 as Kyrgyzstan became independent. The city is laid out on a grid of wide, tree-lined streets, with Ala-Too Square at its centre. The busy Osh Bazaar sells everything from spices to felt hats, and Ala Archa National Park, a gorge with alpine trails and glaciers, is less than an hour's drive away. Bishkek is also the usual starting point for trips east to Issyk-Kul, one of the largest mountain lakes in the world.

Available at A5, A4, A3, A2 and A1. The 18 colour styles include Forest, Pastel and Copper. It is meant to be hung and admired, not used for directions.

Pair it with our Almaty map print or Tashkent map print, or browse the full set of Asia map prints.
