    The ancestor of the bicycle was the running machine invented by Karl Drais in Germany in 1817, which riders pushed along with their feet. The Tour de France was first held in 1903, and its leader has worn the yellow jersey since 1919. Bradley Wiggins became the first British winner in 2012, and Chris Froome went on to win four times. British riders have also dominated Olympic track cycling in velodromes, while sportives and club runs fill the country lanes every weekend. The penny-farthing, with its giant front wheel, was popular in the 1870s and 1880s.

    It is available in twelve colours, including light blue, light green and grey alongside the classic red, blue, green, yellow, black, brown, orange, pink and purple. It is made in 20 × 10cm, 28.3 × 10cm, 40.5 × 14.1cm and 45.7 × 15.2cm.
