    ABOUT THIS GIFT.

Sea otters, Cannery Row and a world-famous aquarium define this California coastal city, shown in this Monterey map art print as clean graphic art. A great gift for Steinbeck fans and Pacific Coast Highway road-trippers.

Monterey was the capital of Spanish and then Mexican Alta California before California became a US state. John Steinbeck made its sardine canneries famous in his 1945 novel Cannery Row. The Monterey Bay Aquarium opened on the site of an old cannery in 1984. Sea otters float in kelp beds just off the shore, and whales pass through the bay. The 17-Mile Drive winds past Pebble Beach golf links and the Lone Cypress, and the Monterey Pop Festival of 1967 featured Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. Fisherman's Wharf, lined with seafood restaurants, juts into the harbour.

For size, there's A5, A4, A3, A2 or A1; for colour, 18 schemes, Heatwave, Ruby and Patina included. As decorative art it isn't suitable for navigation.

You might also like the San Francisco map print, San Jose, California map print and Napa map print, all part of our North America map prints.
