    The city of Napa is the gateway to the Napa Valley, about an hour's drive north of San Francisco. The valley's reputation was sealed at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, when Napa wines beat famous French labels in a blind tasting. Today it is especially known for Cabernet Sauvignon. The Napa Valley Wine Train runs through the vineyards, hot air balloons float over the valley at dawn, and the downtown riverfront is lined with tasting rooms and restaurants.
