    Nice curves around the Baie des Anges, and the Promenade des Anglais follows the shore for several kilometres. The Old Town, Vieux Nice, is a maze of narrow lanes leading to the Cours Saleya flower market. From Castle Hill there are views over the terracotta rooftops and the port. Henri Matisse lived in the city for many years, and museums are devoted to him and to Marc Chagall. The Nice Carnival is one of the largest in the world. In 2021 Nice was named a UNESCO World Heritage site as a Riviera winter resort town.
