    Loo is one of the most British words there is, and its origin is debated; one popular theory links it to the French phrase gardez l'eau. However it came about, it is a friendly, polite way to mark the toilet. Hang it above a downstairs cloakroom, an en suite, a family bathroom or a shop's customer facilities so nobody has to ask. It makes an easy housewarming gift for someone with a newly fitted bathroom or a pub owner who wants a quirky touch. Light Blue, S-Green or White suit most tiles and paint shades.
