    Skis have been used for thousands of years in Scandinavia and northern Russia, and the word itself comes from the Old Norse for a split length of timber. The Telemark region of Norway gave its name to the graceful telemark turn. The first Winter Olympics were held at Chamonix in 1924, and Arnold Lunn set out the first modern slalom at Mürren in Switzerland in 1922. Closer to home, Scotland has ski centres at Cairngorm, Glenshee and Nevis Range, and dry slopes help British skiers train all year. A fresh fall of untouched snow is what skiers call a powder day.

    Small is 20 × 10cm, medium 28.3 × 10cm, large 40.5 × 14.1cm, and XL 45.7 × 15.2cm. It is available in twelve colours, including light blue, light green and grey alongside the classic red, blue, green, yellow, black, brown, orange, pink and purple.
